If you’re looking to design outside the proverbial box then look no further than Jaimi Stewart, professional blogger and master of mixing home design styles.
“My decorating style knows no boundaries. Modern, vintage, classic, southwest, traditional, industrial, global...I love it all,” said Jaimi.“I throw it all in the “mixing bowl” of our home, sprinkle in some coziness and personality, stir and see what comes out.”
We are pleased to have partnered with Jaimi who presents a take on a “Cozy Minimalist” look. Keep on reading to learn more about this effortless design.
For this project, I followed the Cozy Minimalist Home decorating process for my living room based on the bestselling book by Myquillyn Smith. I made only ONE purchase. Yes. You can redecorate an entire space by making one intentional purchase. My one purchase was the Oceana Divine Grey rug from AFW.
I started the process with what the author of Cozy Minimalist refers to as “quieting the space”. This way, the room can speak to you about what it needs and does not need.
What my room told me:
- The windows and outdoors space are the focal point. What’s on the inside should compete for attention
- Window treatments are not necessary – natural light during the day is enough
- There is A LOT of traffic through this space. Furniture should be limited and the rug should not be white or cream but durable
I found the rug online at AFW and knew this was the one. After a few days of letting the room speak to me again, now including the rug, I began my decorating process. I absolutely underestimated the power this rug would have in the room. It made quite an impact.
I knew I might not use everything I had on hand, and I was right. When using the Cozy Minimalist method, it’s important to leave blank space for the eye to rest.
I’m grateful and honored to be given the opportunity to style this rug. My hope is you feel inspired that you can make one intentional purchase and then use what you already own to elevate the style and atmosphere of your home
